THE ONCE BEAUTIFIED ENERHEN JUNCTION TURNED DUMPSITE AND MARKET SQUARE FOR TRADERS

The popular Enerhen Junction in the Oil City of Warri was given a face-lift during the administration of former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan but the junction which is the gateway to the Oil City of Warri had since returned to its old disrepair state under the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa-led Government.
Smart news reporter who visited the area during the weekend to witness current development reveal that; aside from the state of the bad roads, the once beautified junction had turned to dumpsite and market square for traders.
Our reporter observed that the piece of work done so far were not enough to compliment Government efforts, describing the performance of the construction company handling the rehabilitation as a snail movement.
it was observed that one of the lanes at the junction had been taken over by flood while most parts of the two lanes have been cut off resulting in gridlock. Therefore, urge the state Government to urgently address the drainage system and construct the road before the raining days.
Enerhen junction was commissioned in 2013 and was among 12 road intersections in Asaba/Effurun metropolis constructed by the Uduaghan-led administration’s Urban Renewal Strategy at a cost of N3.66bn.
However, the junction has since turned into a state of disrepair, as motorists and other road users battle to drive through the once beautified junction and other parts of Effurun.
A commercial driver, Lucky Onajite, while lamenting the state of the junction, noted that the current administration had turned blind to the plight of road users and residents of the area who plied the junction daily.
In his speech he said, “I have been here for over 30 minutes trying to drive through here (Enerhen Junction) to Warri from Udu Road. Many of us have stopped coming to this area due to the bad state of the road.
Going forward he reveal that under former Governor Uduaghan, Enerhen Junction was one of the world-class junctions in this country but the same PDP government that took over has abandoned it”, the motorist said.
Also speaking, Mrs Charity Ovakporoye, a new comer to the city, have this to say that what she was seeing falls short of all the beautiful stories she had heard of the oil city, and called on the state government to urgently fix the situation.
Similarly, a road user who simply identified himself as James Okpakovwoko, whose car broke down while trying to manoeuvre his way through, noted that it was a shame for “Delta to be in such terrible condition.
Despite all the claims by Gov. Okowa's praise singers as a "ROAD MASTER" that he has constructed hundreds of roads in the state, it is appalling that one can’t drive one kilometre without pot holes.”
